The First-Year Experience was the brain child of Dr. Don Greiner in 1993. After three successful years, a committee was created to pick the design of the promotional materials. This committee is comprised of faculty members and student representatives from a variety of disciplines. The Graphic Design + Illustration students are the first to read the upcoming book. They create the promotional materials including a posters and now book jackets. They present their ideas to the committee and a final design is chosen.

After working with the Graphic Design + Illustration students for the past twenty years it occurred to me there was only one complete historical collection of the posters. In the Osborne Building, one conference room contains a framed collection. It felt incredibly important to archive them all digitally, both for the history of the project and for the graphic design history of our GD+I program.
